The process which I used to deal with a difficult problem in my life

The most important problem that I had to tackle with, not for me, but for my son was obesity. About a year ago, he had a job at Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu.

The job was a challenging one and it involved in managing and running a ‘BPO’,of course in terms of its investment, number of employees etc, it was a small organization.

My son fully equipped with engineering knowledge and spoken English, which are the prerequisites for running a BPO, was fully fit for the job. However, the outsourcing in the BPO had to be done only during night hours especially with countries like USA, Canada etc and in the process, he had to remain awake during night hours even in the late hours. Being resourceful, my son had picked up the business and reasonably earned well.

But he had to tackle with the problem of keeping himself awake during night hours in the BPO and slept during the day time.In the result, having fallen asleep in the early morning, he used to skip his breakfast a number of days and always had his meals by 1200 noon or so.The lack of sleep during night hours that he was hitherto used to and the skipping of breakfast regularly in the morning, led to the obesity of my son, which he had no time to tackle with or attend to.

After six months when my son came to Villupuram, I noticed that he had become obese. When I thoroughly enquired about his working environment, I realized the real cause of his obesity. He had failed to attend himself personally and properly and took care of himself.

According to diabetes expert Joan Martin that lack of sleep may also contribute to obesity. His recent studies suggest that people with sleep problems may gain weight over time.I realized that in my son’s case that he had become obese due to his lack of sleep as the expert pointed out.

I assessed the situation and realized that keeping oneself fit and healthy was equally important as one keeps one’s organization healthy and concentrate on its growth. In fact, the organisation’s health and growth actually depends upon the healthy mind and body of a person who is at the helm of affairs of the organization. My son also realized this and so we decided to sort out the problem.

I had only limited resources as far as my human resources are concerned. My family consisted of me, my wife, my aged mother,my daughter who was doing her engineering degree course in a college some 200 km away from my home and my son some 350 km away from my home. I could not shift my entire family to Coimbatore where my son was employed, because I am self-employed at Villupuram.

Therefore, taking all the above aspects into consideration, I deputed my wife to look after my son and to redeem him from obesity. Though my aged mother might not be an adept in cooking, I had no other go but adjust with her cooking.

My wife went to Coimbatore and immediately consulted a doctor along with her son.The problem of obesity of my son was not at all alarming and could be easily cured with regular dietary habits and exercises. As another expert in diabetes Joan.Atkinson said, ‘change in your diet and eating habit can and will help you loose a little weight.’

Hence my wife introduced regular morning breakfast to my son at 0800 am along with exercise in the early morning, besides totally eschewing from junk foods and preferring simple foods like fresh vegetables and fruits etc. In the end my son gradually became a normal person.

Well, six months had elapsed and I had to bear with and adjust myself for some inconveniences in my life, for the sake of my son and in a way his ‘organisation’ also.Timely intervention and deputation of my wife to take care of my son personally, yielded fruitful results. My son had become trim and his organization too.His obesity is gone once for all.
