The Lok Pal Movement has unleashed a fresh controversy

The Lok Pal movement has created an interesting political scenario in India. The Lok Pal bill is in the parliament referred to a select committee of fourteen Rajya Sabha members. The fate of the bill is not known, though the select committee is to send back the bill to the Rajya Sabha on the first day of the last week of the current summer session of the parliament.Despite the commitment shown by the UPA and the consensus arrived at to secure the votes of her own ally the Trinamul Congress and the glimmer of hope that the ombudsman bill may scrape through in the Rajya Sabha, fresh controversy has been unleashed by the Lok Pal leaders. According to a political statement released by the Lok Pal leaders, the Indian cabinet has at least 14 ministers hailing from different political parties of UPA, known for their corruptive practices and activities. Unless they are removed from the central cabinet it is not at all possible to enact the Lok Pal bill. The list of ministers pointed out by the Lok Pal leaders include the Indian Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh and his cabinet colleagues such as Chidambaram, Pranab Mukerji, G.K.Vasan, Azagiri and a number of other ministers from other political parties. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh along with a team, unmindful of the fresh controversy unleashed by the Lok Pal leaders has gone to Myanmar. Now a big question mark lies ahead.Whether the Indian parliament will enact the Lok Pal law in the current summer session or the bill will again see its peaceful demise. Let us wait and see how the fresh lease of controversy unleashed by the Lok Pal leaders changes the course of the Indian politics and affects the enactment of the Lok Pal law.
